Your 6-digit Cashi passcode, Face ID or fingerprint confirms it's really you before Cashi lets you send money, see your card details or make other important changes. Older versions of the Cashi app call the passcode a PIN.
Note: Your Cashi passcode is separate from your card's CVV, the 3-digit security code on your card. The passcode confirms actions inside the Cashi app. Your card number, expiry date and CVV are what you use to pay.
When Cashi asks for your passcode or biometrics
Cashi asks you to confirm with Face ID, fingerprint or your passcode when you:
Send money from your balance, including with Send Cash
See your card's full number, expiry date or CVV
Apply for a card
Freeze or unfreeze your card
Approve an online card payment that needs an extra security check
When you unfreeze your card, Cashi also asks for a one-time code. If you have turned on Face ID or fingerprint, Cashi asks for it first. If you have also set a passcode, you can use your passcode instead.
Setting up your passcode or biometrics
The first time you sign in to Cashi on a phone, the app asks you to turn on Face ID or fingerprint, or to set a 6-digit passcode instead. You need at least one of them to send money or see your card details.
Turning Face ID or fingerprint on or off
Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen
Tap Security
Turn Fingerprint or Face ID on or off
Your phone must already have Face ID or a fingerprint set up in its own settings. When you turn the option on in Cashi, your phone asks you to scan your face or fingerprint once to confirm.
To turn Face ID or fingerprint off, you need a Cashi passcode as a backup. If you have not set one yet, Cashi asks you to set a passcode first.
Changing your passcode
Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen
Tap Security
Tap Passcode
Enter your current passcode
Enter a new 6-digit passcode, then enter it again to confirm
If you forget your passcode
Tap Forgot passcode? on the screen that asks for your passcode, then tap Sign out. When you sign back in, Cashi asks you to set up your passcode or biometrics again, and you can choose a new passcode.
Tips
Don't use an easy-to-guess passcode, such as 123456 or your date of birth.
Never share your passcode with anyone. Cashi will never ask for it.
If someone else may know your passcode, change it straight away in Security.
